No. iTrading Buddy handles all market-data access on your behalf — there's nothing for you to configure. Real-time prices and fundamentals are sourced from Twelve Data, the economic calendar and macro context from FRED (the St. Louis Federal Reserve), and AI insights from Anthropic Claude. All requests route through the iTrading Buddy backend, so no third-party API key is required from you.

On the free tier, stock prices are delayed by approximately 15 minutes. This is a standard limitation of free market data feeds. To get real-time prices, upgrade to iTrading Buddy Pro. Pro subscribers receive live, streaming quotes throughout the trading day.

Lock screen widgets: Long-press your lock screen, tap "Customize," select the lock screen, then tap the widget area above or below the time. Tap the "+" button and search for "iTrading Buddy." Choose from inline or circular widget styles.

Home screen widgets: Long-press any empty area on your home screen, tap the "+" in the top-left corner, search for "iTrading Buddy," and select the small or medium widget size. After adding, long-press the widget and tap "Edit Widget" to choose which stock to display.

Note: Widgets require an active Pro subscription.

1. Open any stock detail page by tapping a ticker on your watchlist.
2. Tap the bell icon in the top-right corner.
3. Choose from seven alert types: Price Target, % Change, 52-Week High/Low, Volume Spike, Earnings Reminder, Analyst Rating Change, or After-Hours Move.
4. Set your threshold and tap "Save."

You can combine multiple conditions on a single alert with AND logic. You can also swipe left on any stock in your watchlist and tap the alert button. Free users can create 1 alert. Pro users have unlimited alerts across all 7 types.

AI Insights is a Pro feature that generates an on-demand, plain-English analysis of any stock, powered by Anthropic's Claude. To use it:

1. Open a stock detail page.
2. Tap the Insights button.
3. Choose a model tier: Fast (Haiku, 1 credit), Balanced (Sonnet, 4 credits), or Deep (Opus, 10 credits).
4. Read the generated brief covering news, fundamentals, and technical signals.

Each Pro subscription includes a monthly credit allowance. Results are cached for two hours so revisiting a recent insight costs nothing. Your remaining credits are visible in Settings and sync across your devices via iCloud.

If prices appear stuck or show an error, try these steps:

1. Check market hours: US markets are open Monday through Friday, 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM Eastern Time. Prices will not update on weekends or holidays.
2. Check your internet connection: The app needs an active connection to fetch data.
3. Pull to refresh: On the watchlist screen, pull down to force a data refresh.
4. Check API key: If you are using a personal API key, verify it is still valid at polygon.io.
5. Restart the app: Close iTrading Buddy completely (swipe up from the app switcher) and reopen it.

If the issue persists, the data provider may be experiencing temporary downtime. Wait a few minutes and try again.

All subscriptions are managed through Apple:

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Tap your name at the top (Apple ID).
3. Tap Subscriptions.
4. Find iTrading Buddy in the list.
5. Tap to manage, change, or cancel your subscription.

If you cancel, you retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period. After that, the app reverts to the free tier. Your watchlists and data are preserved.

Your privacy is a core design principle. iTrading Buddy stores all data locally on your device. We do not operate servers, do not create user accounts, and do not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. API keys are secured in the iOS Keychain. iTrading Buddy requires iOS 18.0 or later. The app is a universal download: iPhone (SE 3rd-gen through iPhone 16 Pro Max), iPad with adaptive split-view layout, and Apple Watch with a circular complication. Live Activities and Dynamic Island features work on iPhone 14 Pro and later. Widgets require an active Pro subscription.

Currently, iTrading Buddy does not offer a built-in export feature. Your watchlists, alerts, and portfolio cost basis data are stored locally on your device. If you back up your iPhone through iCloud or Finder, your app data is included in the backup and will be restored if you set up a new device from that backup. A dedicated export feature is on our roadmap for a future update.
