Your data stays on your device. We built iTrading Buddy with privacy at its core.

iTrading Buddy ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") is a stock tracking application for iOS developed by an independent developer. This Privacy Policy describes how the App handles information when you use it. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

iTrading Buddy is designed with a privacy-first architecture. We do not:

  • Create user accounts or require registration
  • Collect, transmit, or store your personal information on any server
  • Use analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs
  • Send any usage data, crash reports, or telemetry off your device
  • Track your location
  • Access your contacts, photos, or other device data

2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All app data is stored exclusively on your iPhone using local storage mechanisms provided by iOS. This includes:

  • Watchlists: The stock tickers you add and how you organize them
  • Alerts: The alert configurations you create (price targets, percent thresholds, etc.)
  • User Preferences: Your display settings, chart preferences, and notification preferences
  • Portfolio Data: Any cost basis information you manually enter (purchase price, share count)
  • API Keys: If you provide a personal API key for market data services, it is stored securely in the iOS Keychain, Apple's encrypted credential storage system

This data never leaves your device. If you delete the App, all locally stored data is permanently removed.

3. Third-Party API Services

The App does not communicate directly with third-party data providers from your device. Instead, the App sends requests to the iTrading Buddy backend (hosted on Fly.io), which then queries data providers on your behalf. The only information the App sends from your device is the stock ticker symbols you are viewing, an authentication bearer token to the iTrading Buddy backend, and standard HTTP request metadata (IP address, device type, request timestamp).

The iTrading Buddy backend uses the following third-party services to fulfill your requests:

  • Twelve Data (twelvedata.com) — Real-time stock quotes, historical price data, company profiles, fundamentals, and earnings calendar
  • FRED / St. Louis Federal Reserve (fred.stlouisfed.org) — Macroeconomic indicators and the economic-release calendar (CPI, FOMC, GDP, etc.)
  • SEC EDGAR (sec.gov) — Company filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K) and structured financial-statement data
  • Brave Search (brave.com/search) — News search and web research
  • Google News (RSS) (news.google.com) — Public news headline aggregation
  • Anthropic Claude (anthropic.com) — AI-generated stock commentary and synthesis

We do not share your name, email, or any personal information with these providers. The backend forwards only the ticker symbols needed to fulfill your specific request.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

iTrading Buddy offers an optional Pro subscription processed entirely through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. We do not collect, process, or have access to your payment information. All billing, receipts, and subscription management are handled by Apple. For information about how Apple handles your payment data, please review Apple's Privacy Policy.

5. Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications for price alerts, notifications are scheduled and delivered using iOS local notification APIs. Alert checking is performed on your device. No notification data is sent to our servers because we do not operate any servers.

6. Children's Privacy

iTrading Buddy is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since the App does not collect personal information from any user, there is no applicable children's data to address.

7. Data Security

Since all data remains on your device, security is provided by the iOS platform itself:

  • API keys are stored in the iOS Keychain, which uses hardware-level encryption
  • App data is protected by your device passcode and biometric authentication
  • Data at rest is encrypted by iOS file-level encryption

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data exists only on your device for as long as the App is installed. To delete all data associated with iTrading Buddy, simply delete the App from your iPhone. There is no account to close and no server-side data to request deletion of.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and may notify you through the App. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
